  • May 30, 2019

    • Attention Wrestlers or anyone thinking about doing wrestling next year.   There will be a short 5 minute meeting right after school TODAY in the commons about wrestling this summer and next year
    • Some University of Iowa medical students have put together summer supply bags of feminine hygiene products for students who might need them.  We will have them in the health office on a first come first serve basis on Friday
    • ALL LOCKERS MUST BE CLEANED OUT BY THE END OF THE DAY TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MAY 31ST! This includes all academic lockers, PE lockers and all athletic lockers.
    • See Sra. Silva o Srta. Angulo for information on Costa Rica if you are interested in traveling next spring break to Costa Rica!
    • It's time to check your class requests for next year before schedules are created. Please go to your PowerSchool. On the left-hand side, click on Class Registration. Take the time to look over what classes you requested for next year as this will determine your schedule. IF you would like to make a change to your requests, please visit with your school counselor in the Guidance Office or email your counselor as soon as possible and they will see what they can do.
    • Students- Please place your new or gently used school supplies in the plastic bins located on the main floor. Your donations of three ring binders, pencils, pens, calculators and loose leaf paper are all appreciated. Please do not place recycled paper or trash in these bins.
    • Iowa City Fire & Police Departments, Johnson County Emergency Management and U of I Police are holding a 2 day Emergency Service Camp this summer. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, you can find information in the Main Office.  Best part of all…IT’S FREE!!

  • Summer Food Service Program

    The Iowa City School District and the Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County are participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all eligible children free of charge. Read on for dates, times, locations, and eligibility requirements.

  • 2019 Summer Reading Resources

    District teacher librarians have compiled a great list of resources for summer reading! From recommended book lists by grade level and links to online books, to area library reading programs, free bus ride to the library, and the current location of the bookmobile, this newsletter has it all.

  • 2019-20 Elementary Attendance Areas

    The Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors approved new elementary attendance areas for the 2019-20 school year. The new boundaries were approved during their November 27 board meeting. The updated maps can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/DistrictMaps.

  • Schools Serving as Election Polling Sites

    We have received multiple inquiries regarding our schools serving as election polling locations. While we understand the concern of allowing our schools to be open to the public throughout the school day, we are required by State Statute 49.24 to make our facilities available for this purpose.

  • District ACT Scores Released

    The Iowa City Community School District is excited to share the District’s ACT data for tested 2018 graduates. We are proud to report that once again the District's average composite ACT score of 24.9 exceeds the state's average, which comes in at 21.8 for 2018.

  • John Bacon Welcome to City High School!

    City High is a special place with a rich and distinguished history. Our students are incredible, talented young people. Our families are highly supportive, active, and involved. Our faculty and staff represent true excellence in education. Our alumni share a common bond and continually rally around our beautiful school. Together, we are “The School That Leads!”

    As a proud graduate of City High (1992), I have a deep passion for our school. More than anything else, the experience I had as a student at City High shaped the future direction of my life. It is an honor and a joy to serve as principal.

    At City High, we share a common vision. Our school will be: 

    •  An academic powerhouse that delivers a world-class education
    •  A comprehensive high school with co-curricular activities that operate at an elite level in the great state of Iowa
