    Together we focus on working toward our mission: To prepare our students to transition back into their home schools. At TREC, we collaborate to determine the root causes that are keeping our students from being successful in their home schools. The TREC teams work to develop and implement individualized plans to help each of our students find success.

  • District Calendars Approved

    During the January 9, 2018 board meeting, the proposed school calendars for the next three years were approved by the board of directors. The calendars for the 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21 school years can be found HERE.

  • Special Education Survey - Now Open!

    The Iowa City Community School District is currently gathering feedback regarding special education programming. This information will be used to update the District Developed Service Delivery Plan for Special Education. Unique surveys have been designed for parents of students with IEPs, staff, and community members. All survey information is anonymous and confidential.

  • Christine Grant Elementary School Attendance Area Development

    The Iowa City Community School District will begin the process of developing the attendance area for the new Christine Grant Elementary School. Grant Elementary will open in the fall of 2019 in North Liberty across from South Slope. This could potentially affect families in the following attendance areas: Garner, Lincoln, Mann, Penn, and Wickham elementary schools.

  • District donates desks to Haiti

    A little bit of Iowa has arrived in Haiti. This fall, school desks once used by students in the Iowa City Community School District were donated and delivered for use in schools in the Caribbean nation.

  • City High Student Kate Goodvin Receives Highest Award from National YoungArts Foundation

    The Iowa City Community School District is proud to announce that City High School student Kate Goodvin has been named a 2018 National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) Finalist in Visual Arts, the organization’s highest honor. Selected from the most competitive pool of applications to date, Goodvin has been recognized for her outstanding artistic achievements and joins 757 of the nation’s most promising young artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts from 47 states.
