  • West High Yearbook Wins Neubert Award

    Iowa City West’s 50th anniversary edition of the Trojan Epic yearbook has received the prestigious Neubert Award. This is the 12th time in 14 years that the Trojan Epic has received this award.

  • Nutrition Services Department Receives Employer Appreciation Award

    The District’s Nutrition Services Department has received Goodwill’s Employer Appreciation Award in recognition of their efforts to create job opportunities for people with barriers to independence.

  • 2019-20 Elementary Attendance Areas

    The Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors approved new elementary attendance areas for the 2019-20 school year. The new boundaries were approved during their November 27 board meeting. The updated maps can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/DistrictMaps.

  • Introducing the Real Appeal Program: A Free Weight Loss Program for Employees

    We are excited to announce a new weight loss program called Real Appeal! Real Appeal is a free and convenient online weight loss tool available to all employees covered under the Iowa City Community School District’s medical insurance plan, as well as their covered spouses and dependents.

  • Unanimous Approval for Amendment to Teacher and Paraeducator Negotiated Agreements

    The Iowa City Community School District is proud to announce the unanimous approval of an amendment to the teacher and paraeducator negotiated agreements by the School Board during their September 11, 2018 meeting. In the wake of changes at the state level regarding collective bargaining, this amendment helps ensure the continuation of a collaborative and supportive relationship between the Iowa City Education Association (ICEA) and the district for the benefit of staff.

  • 'Say Something' Reporting Tool

    You may have noticed posters throughout your school promoting the District’s ‘Say Something’ reporting tool. This system allows for students, staff, and parents to anonymously report bullying incidents, sexual assault or harassment incidents, and school safety concerns.

  • New Benefit: Teladoc

    District employees and dependents now have access to Teladoc, a telemedicine service that connects patients with licensed doctors by web, phone, or mobile app within minutes. Teladoc physicians can diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications (if necessary) for common health issues such as cold and flu, allergies, infections, rashes, and more.

  • Excellence Fund Grants Awarded for 2019-2020

    The ICCSD Foundation received 28 applications for many interesting ideas and projects, with funding requests totaling almost $200,000. This grant process continues to show how passionate our teachers and staff are about helping our students succeed while they are in our schools. The Foundation is pleased to announce the following 12 projects will receive a total of $75,000 in Excellence Fund Grant awards for the 2019-2020 school year.

  • SEJH Teachers to Present at MidSchool Math Conference

    Teachers from South East Junior High will travel to Sante Fe, New Mexico, in March to deliver four presentations at the 2019 MidSchool Math Conference, which will focus on the theme of "Total Math Immersion."

  • Elementary Voluntary Transfer Update

    During their 10/23/18 meeting, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve changes to the elementary voluntary transfer guidelines beginning with the 2019-20 school year. The changes can be found HERE.

  • Schools Serving as Election Polling Sites

    We have received multiple inquiries regarding our schools serving as election polling locations. While we understand the concern of allowing our schools to be open to the public throughout the school day, we are required by State Statute 49.24 to make our facilities available for this purpose.

  • Employee Assistance Program Offers Free Mental Health Services for District Staff

    The Synchrony Employee Assistance Program (EAP) from Prelude Behavioral Services provides free counseling, education, and referral services to District personnel as an employee benefit. Synchrony counselors provide confidential, professional counseling, education, and referral services to both employees and their family members.

  • District Logo Wear Available for Order

    We are excited to introduce an option to buy District logo apparel. We now have our own Iowa City Schools storefront through Land’s End Apparel. Employees have the opportunity to purchase a variety of clothing items with the District’s logo embroidered on the piece.
