I want to give a welcome to all of our future Christine Grant Elementary students and families. I am very honored to be the first principal of Christine Grant and look forward to working with you all in the creation of a positive learning community. The opportunities are endless as the establishment of traditions, celebrations, and culture within and beyond the walls of the school occur during this planning year and beyond.
We will get to know each other on many levels as planning occurs over the next year and, of course, once the school is open. During this next year, I will be assisting at both Garner Elementary and Penn Elementary. This will be terrific as I also will get to know many of our Christine Grant students and families!
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

At the April 13, 2021 board meeting, the Board endorsed and approved the District moving to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance. This change allows more students to remain in school while also keeping a focus on health and safety. Specifically, the IDPH guidance modifies the District’s quarantine process and reinforces the importance of consistently and appropriately wearing masks.
All Iowa public school districts are required to administer an annual school climate and culture survey to students in grades 3-12 called Conditions for Learning Survey (Survey). The Survey is designed to measure their engagement in school, safety, and the overall learning environment.

The Iowa City Community School District is getting ready to administer an annual school climate and culture survey called Conditions for Learning to students in grades 3-12. This survey administration is required by the state’s plan to meet a federal law called the Every Student Succeeds Act. Our District will conduct the survey between April 5-May 28. All Iowa public school districts will use the Conditions for Learning Survey (Survey) to improve safety, student engagement and the overall learning environment so that all Iowa students have optimum conditions for learning. Our work to improve safety, student engagement and the overall learning environment will have a lasting impact on the future.
We look forward to welcoming students back to 100% on-site learning beginning Monday, February 15, 2021. The ICCSD PK-12 Online Learning Program will continue as normal. As a reminder, Friday, February 12, 2021, will be a ‘no school’ day for both on-site and online students, and there will be no Grab & Go meals on this day. Staff will utilize this time to prepare for the return to 100% on-site learning.
