We would like to welcome you to Grant Wood Elementary School! Our dedicated staff strives to meet the individual needs of every child, to provide a variety of social and academic experiences, and to foster a positive climate where each child reaches their full potential. We respect and celebrate the individual differences and rich diversity that make up our school community! We offer a challenging curriculum that cultivates lifelong learning. We use research-based instructional strategies that promote active participation, independent thinking, and high academic achievement.
Student progress is continually monitored by evaluating student work and making instructional decisions to meet the needs of each child. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where staff and students are respectful and responsible. Students are taught and acknowledged for positive behavior through the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). We teach, model and practice expectations with our students. Individual and school wide celebrations are held to celebrate the positive behaviors of our students!
There are many opportunities at Grant Wood for children to be involved in leadership groups, student clubs and sports. We offer a multitude of before and after school groups for children to choose from! In addition, many leadership opportunities exist for students throughout the school day. Families can be connected through volunteer opportunities, a principal advisory group, family nights, parent classes, and our PTO! We look forward to having you join us as a Grant Wood Wildcat!
