Principal's Message

  • Dennis Harnack Welcome, incoming Hoover students and parents!

It is my pleasure to help create a new Hoover community. It is exciting to have students come together from many different schools. We will celebrate our commonalities and learn about what makes us all unique individuals and learners.

The current Hoover staff have been planning for this move since hearing of our change. We know we face challenges ahead, but the opportunities are many and our future is bright. We look forward to meeting all our new Hoover Hawks. There will be opportunities coming up before the end of the current school year for us all to meet and plan. As opportunities arise, they will be posted to this page, so stay tuned.

  • Home School Look-Up

The Iowa City Community School District is proud to present an online tool through which anyone can lookup attendance areas. To determine school attendance areas for a particular location, type that address into the search box in the top left corner. The system will auto-complete possible addresses. When you see the address you are searching for, click it. The map will update to show the elementary, junior high, and high school that location is assigned to. Each school will show a phone number and a link to the school's webpage where you can find more information about that school.

  • Message from the Superintendent

It is with mixed emotions that I write to you today. It has been my honor and privilege to serve the students, staff, and community of the Iowa City Community School District for the past decade. As I look back on the past ten years, I am very proud to have been a part of a team that has done so much for our children. I genuinely feel that the district is set up for success for years to come. I also feel confident that this is a good time to consider a transition both professionally and personally. It is with all this in mind that I have shared with the Board that I will be moving on at the end of my current contract, June 30, 2021.

  • Message to the Community

As we welcome students back for the new school year, we would like to take a moment to remind families of the commitment to equity and inclusion that the Iowa City Community School District holds. As efforts are being made by the federal government to crack down on immigrants and refugees in the United States, our responsibility to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all of our students to participate in their education becomes more important than ever.
