  • Michelle Cook Welcome to South East Junior High, where you can expect excellence! At South East, we are proud to serve a rich population of diverse learners. Staff at South East pride themselves on forming individual relationships with each student to ensure we are meeting the needs of all learners. South East staff believe that all students can learn at high levels, and they eagerly accept the responsibility of challenging each student.

    Students at South East have a variety of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities in STEM, athletics, fine arts, and many additional clubs ranging from yearbook to sewing and craft club. We pride ourselves on striving for excellence and providing an enriching, successful, and meaningful experience for each student.

  • Message to Families Regarding School Safety

    Over the past week, there has been an increase in the number of conversations and concerns surrounding school safety. Traumatic and unthinkable events occurring in our country have prompted each of us to pause and reflect on the security measures we have in place. These conversations and events reveal a unifying mission to keep our children safe.

  • Statement from the Board on Union Contract Negotiations

    Last spring, Iowa legislators voted to gut Chapter 20, removing nearly all negotiating points from union contracts. The ICCSD administrative and board team, building upon the very strong and collaborative relationship with employee groups, came together to quickly and effectively protect those rights by ratifying five negotiated agreements at a special Board meeting on February 13, 2017.

  • Open Enrollment Deadline

    Parents/guardians residing in an Iowa school district may enroll their child into another Iowa school district under the terms and conditions of Iowa Code section 282.18 and the administrative rules of the Iowa Department of Education. Forms to be used are available in the central office of Iowa school districts. For students in grades 1-12, the completed form must be filed with both the resident and receiving district by March 1 of the year preceding the school year for which open enrollment is desired.

  • Christine Grant Elementary School Attendance Area Development - Updated Meeting Locations

    The Iowa City Community School District will begin the process of developing the attendance area for the new Christine Grant Elementary School. Grant Elementary will open in the fall of 2019 in North Liberty across from South Slope. This could potentially affect families in the following attendance areas: Garner, Lincoln, Mann, Penn, and Wickham elementary schools.

  • District Calendars Approved

    During the January 9, 2018 board meeting, the proposed school calendars for the next three years were approved by the board of directors. The calendars for the 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21 school years can be found HERE.
