  • Michelle Cook Welcome to South East Junior High, where you can expect excellence! At South East, we are proud to serve a rich population of diverse learners. Staff at South East pride themselves on forming individual relationships with each student to ensure we are meeting the needs of all learners. South East staff believe that all students can learn at high levels and eagerly accept the responsibility of challenging each student. Students at South East have a variety of opportunities to participate many extracurricular activities in STEM, athletics, fine arts, and many additional clubs ranging from yearbook to sewing and craft club. We pride ourselves on striving for excellence and providing an enriching, successful, and meaningful experience for each student.

  • Thank You to Our Community ...

    The Iowa City Community School District would like to thank the community for coming out to voice their opinion on the District’s General Obligation bond referendum. There was a strong turn-out for this school election and we are grateful to have a community that is so highly engaged in the work of the District.

  • Response to Title IX Re-evaluation

    On Thursday, September 7th, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced that the Department of Education would be re-evaluating Title IX and the 2011 “Dear Colleague Letter” guidelines that protect students from sexual harassment in grades K-12 and on college campuses.

  • How Does the Facilities Master Plan and the GO Bond Affect My School?

    On September 12, 2017, voters in the Iowa City Community School District will consider an estimated $192 million bond package. The bond will fund the second half of the approved 10-year Facilities Master Plan [FMP], which impacts every school in the District and every area of the community.

  • Message to Our Community

    Today it was announced that the Department of Homeland Security rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy and will stop processing any new applications for the program. To all of our students who are impacted by this decision – and to their friends, classmates and teachers who are also concerned because of this decision – know that the Iowa City Community School District stands by you.

  • New 7th Grade Immunization Requirement

    New Iowa law in 2017: All incoming 7th grade students MUST have a meningitis vaccine to attend school. Johnson County Public Health and the Iowa City Community School District health staff are working together to help your child get the meningitis and any other needed vaccinations.
