    Overdue Policy
Materials from the South East library are circulated to students for a loan period of three weeks. After three weeks, if the item has not been returned or renewed, it is considered overdue.  Books may be renewed online or in the library as long as the material is not on hold for another student.

No fine will be assessed for overdue materials, but replacement cost may be charged for lost materials.

    Lost or Damaged Materials
Please alert library staff immediately if library materials are damaged - minor damage can often be repaired at no cost. If any materials are damaged beyond repair or are lost, a fine may be assessed for the replacement cost of the item.

    Textbook Checkout Policy
Classroom textbooks are checked out to individual students. Students are held responsible for returning textbooks at the end of trimester or school year.  A fine will be assessed for any textbooks which are lost or damaged.  Fines at South East range from a few dollars for small repairs to over $100 for full replacement cost.

Students can check the status of the materials they have checked out, including textbooks on our online library catalog, Destiny. Students are encouraged to periodically check online and alert teachers or library staff of any issues.

Selection and Reconsideration of Library Materials
School library collections are developed to support curriculum goals and to provide for the diverse needs and interests of students. Our school libraries strive to provide large collections of current, high-quality materials, cataloged to facilitate sharing both within the building and throughout the district. Collections are developed at the building level in collaboration with teachers and are evaluated frequently to assure that they meet changing needs.

Materials are selected from established reviewing sources and through collaboration with teachers, with other teacher librarians and with other professional colleagues. Non-print materials, including computer software, are previewed before purchase. Specific procedures for such preview are contained on the following pages. Systematic planning for collection development occurs in each building and a collection development plan should be detailed by each teacher librarian.

The district supports a well-established selection and reconsideration policy.  If concerns about materials arise, please contact the teacher librarian.
