Director of Nutrition Services
Demory.Alison@iowacityschools.orgChildren who participate in school meal programs get roughly half of their calories each day at school. This is an extraordinary responsibility and opportunity. Within the Iowa City Community School District we strive to make school meals as healthy, nutritious and delicious as possible. Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) went into effect and required schools to meet multiple nutrition guidelines aimed at improving children’s health and decreasing obesity rates. In everything that we do in the Nutrition Services Department, our mission is to nourish minds.
