School meals are better than ever due to new guidelines! Some of the changes include:
Students must take a fruit or vegetable to count as a full meal. We offer a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and we partner with Farm to School to serve fresh and local, whenever possible.
Vegetables from each of the 5 sub groups must be offered weekly. The sub groups are red/orange, dark green, legumes, starch and other (such as green beans).
Most of the grains served are whole grain rich and by next year all grains must be whole grain rich.
Trans fats are not allowed and no more than 35% of all calories can be from fat.
