What better place for students to study language arts than Iowa City? In our program, K–6 students acquire and refine early literacy skills in comprehension and fluency. They also learn the processes involved in writing a variety of genres. Grades 7–12 students hone their skills as critical readers of traditional texts as well as other forms of media. They grow as deliberate and engaging communicators through writing, speaking, and discussion.

Literacy is a gateway skill. Through authentic, thought-provoking classroom experiences, our students are prepared for the communication demands of life.
