RFP 20003 FirewallQ: The RFP specifically states URL filtering, but says nothing about IPS or Malware. Would you like those services also included?A: We currently have an IPS and a default Malware block setup on our firewall. We do want these included.Q: How many devices does the district use?A: We estimate that the district could be using around 25,000 devices in the life of the device.Q: What length of license would you like for this firewall?A: We are open to any length of license. If the discount is significant and we're confident in the bid, we would be willing to select a longer license. We would prefer that bids contain language that give us the option to select a length, if there are different options available.Q: Would you like a High Availability (HA), or backup, firewall to accompany your primary firewall?A: We are open to the idea of a backup firewall, but the device would not be E-Rate eligible and it is unclear at this point if the budget would allow us to purchase a backup firewall.Q: Would you be able to provide a network diagram to help with the scope of work for installation and configuration?A: We do not feel that a network diagram would be relevant to this project. The firewall returns to a centrally-located building, where the connection from other buildings already exists.Q: What are the pieces you're looking in a firewall?A: We are looking for a complete solution. The choices we make will largely be based on our available budget, so the ideal bid will have some of less critical features budgeted, so we can pick a solution and features that fit for us.Q: What sort of training are you looking for?A: We would prefer hands-on training rather than classroom-based training. We are in the ideal situation of changing network providers at the same time, so there will be a brief period where we can do load and policy testing before needing to route all our traffic through the firewall.Q: From a policy perspective, do you have an idea of what size of policy library you'll have?A: We will not be importing a configuration from an existing device, so we do not anticipate that we will have a large policy library to start.Q: Are you using an existing configuration?A: No, we will not be importing an existing configuration.
