Exit Criteria

  • To exit ELL class, students need to meet these criteria:

    • Proficient/Level 4 & 5 scores on the ELPA21 English Test
    • On grade-level for reading
      • For 3rd-6th we use Iowa Assessments data
      • For K-2nd we use data from district tests called FAST and DRA
    • On grade-level for mathematics
      • For 3rd-6th we use Iowa Assessments data
      • For K-2nd we use data from a district test called Fuchs & Fuchs

Once students have met all three criteria, they will be exited from ELL. This means they will not come to ELL class anymore. However, the ELL teacher and classroom teacher will still keep track of their progress for 2 years (on Iowa Assessments and district tests). If they do not keep up the expected progress, they may come back to ELL class.

If your child has met the exit criteria, you will be notified via a letter and a phone call to your house. We want to celebrate this together! :-)
