Mrs. Karen Strabala

My Role

This is my fifth year as the school counselor at Lemme Elementary. In my role as the school counselor, I love the opportunity to visit every classroom each week and teach lessons to all of the students. Some of the major topics we cover throughout the year are problem-solving, emotion management, personal safety and bullying prevention (3-6). I will occasionally send out letters to families to let you know what we are discussing in our classroom lessons, but don’t forget to check out this page for additional resources and information about the social emotional topics we cover during the school year.

Education and Family

In 2009, I received my bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Iowa. A few years later I decided to head back to school and received my master's degree in school counseling from the University of Iowa in 2014. My husband and I have one son whose name is Atticus. In our free time we enjoy spending time outdoors and hanging out with family.

I feel so grateful and blessed to be back this year at Lemme and I can’t wait for another year of learning and growing with all the wonderful students and families here at Lemme. If you ever need to contact me, my email is I look forward to hearing from you!
