Our Mission & Vision
-
Our Mission
The mission of the Iowa City Community School District is to ensure all students become responsible, independent learners capable of making informed decisions in a democratic society as well as in the dynamic global community. This is accomplished by challenging each student with a rigorous and creative curriculum taught by a diverse, professional, caring staff and enriched through the resources and efforts of families and the entire community. Our Vision
The ICCSD OLP will provide students with a comprehensive, advanced curriculum that is consistent with the standards set out by the state of Iowa and the Common Core. The program will cover Kindergarten through 12th grade and will award high school diplomas to all students who meet the state and district requirements.
The lessons are designed by Iowa City teachers and reflect best practices for online learning. They are collaborative in nature and reflective of a culturally responsive curriculum. The program will include Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Some classes are delivered asynchronously through independent study (overseen by an Iowa City teacher) or Edgenuity (an online program with an Iowa City teacher that oversees the students progress and work).
