September 17th: Constitution and Citizenship Day
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is observed each year on September 17th to commemorate the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787, and "recognize all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens." In 2004, Congress added two new requirements to "Constitution Day and Citizenship Day". The second requirement stated that each educational institution receiving Federal funds should provide students with educational opportunities related to the Constitution every September 17th. Constitution resources, including a pdf version of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights can be found at the National Constitution Center. Resources related to the State of Iowa Constitution are available at The Iowa Legislature website.
