Welcome to Career & Technical Education!
We provide Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at City High School, Liberty High School, and West High School. Exploratory programs are available to students at North Central Junior High, Northwest Junior High, and South East Junior High. The goals of the program are to provide students with information about careers and develop employability skills.
Students are provided opportunities in business education, family and consumer sciences, industrial technology, and Project Lead the Way (STEM). Students not only learn skills but also are able to apply those skills at a local worksite or in a lab on campus. The focus of instruction is not only occupationally specific skills but also job seeking and job keeping skills. Technology plays a key role in the CTE curriculum. Other skills required by employers (e.g., decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and the use of statistics) are the focuses of CTE courses.
Students are provided with unique opportunities in CTE to explore the real world through internships and job shadowing opportunities. Students develop leadership skills and compete at the state and national levels through their participation in student organizations.
