Career Exploration
Iowa City Community School District’s CTE programs combine classroom instruction with practical hands-on experience and include opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials. In addition, workâbased learning opportunities such as internships are available.
Starting in elementary school, our district offers Rich Career Exploration Opportunities, including:
- Internship and College Fairs
- Job Shadows and Summer Internships through the Workplace Learning Connection
- Partnerships with Junior Achievement, with our JA Biztown 6th-grade experience and 9th-grade JA Dream Accelerator at our Center for Innovation.
- All high school students have the opportunity to attend Build My Future, Construction Apprenticeship Career Fair, and Career presentations from Industry experts.
