Herbert Hoover School was ranked 17th Best Public Elementary School in Iowa by the 2016 Niche Rankings; this accomplishment can be attributed to the varied opportunities and community at our school. Academic skills, fine arts and physical skills, along with student social and emotional development are among the emphasis of the school. An additional emphasis includes development of the individual student as a person with successful learning traits, habits, and attitudes. The Hoover staff perseveres in its efforts to assist each child to set and move toward personal and group goals.
Faculty at Hoover is committed to providing both challenge and support to students in learning endeavors. Opportunities for reaching potential are given within a framework of encouragement, differentiated instruction through straight grade teams, and varied experiences. The Hoover staff strives to promote “High Flying Hoover Hawks” emphasizing Respect, Responsibility, and Safety helping students become good citizens within an educationally sound environment.
The strength of Hoover School is the family behind every student. Parents and guardians hold high expectations for their children by attending school functions, volunteering their time and talents in many ways, and working through parent-teacher organizations. The staff works closely with families toward the goal of raising children to solve problems both now and in the future.
