Welcome to our library! The purpose of the Iowa City Community School District library program is to enable all students to be effective users of information and to appreciate and enjoy literature and other creative expressions of information.

Hi! I'm the teacher librarian at James Van Allen Elementary. I have been at Van Allen since 2009. I previously was the teacher librarian at Hills Elementary in the Iowa City Community School District for six years. Before I came to the Iowa City area, I was an elementary teacher librarian at Southeast Polk in the Des Moines area for five years, and I was the K-12 teacher librarian for one year for BGM Community Schools when I first started my career. My husband and I live in Wellman, Iowa, with our two children.
