Districtwide Parents Organization (DPO)

  • The Iowa City Districtwide Parents Organization (DPO) is an independent organization led by an executive board and composed of voting members that represent parent organizations across the district. The DPO promotes active engagement and awareness at the school and district level through monthly open meetings that include speakers on matters related to education as well as opportunities to interact directly with the ICCSD administration, foundation, and school board.

Additionally, the DPO administers a scholarship program that supports district students planning to pursue a career in teaching, funded by donations honoring individuals who have contributed in significant ways to our schools. Scholarship recipients and honorees are recognized at an annual spring reception organized by the DPO.

You are encouraged to attend DPO meetings for the following reasons:

    • Connect with parents from other schools’ parent organizations
    • Find out what is happening in our district directly from the school board and administration
    • Learn from experts about important matters related to children, youth, and education
    • Exchange ideas and gain information on local, state and national legislative issues

  • When do we meet?
6:30 PM on the second Wednesday of the month.

    Where do we meet?
    Via Zoom, through December 2022.
