Hello Hills Families!
My name is Genevieve Harnack, and I am one of the two 6th grade teachers at Hills Elementary School. I am so excited to be a part of the Hills team, and cannot wait to see what the year has in store for our 6th grade learners.
After receiving my bachelor's at The University of Iowa in communication studies and journalism, I worked in the community marketing and event planning. I volunteered as a coach for Girls on the Run, and soon decided that teaching and coaching was my calling. I returned to The University of Iowa and obtained my elementary teaching certificate with an endorsement in science education. I can't stay away from school, so I am currently working towards my master's degree in administration.
I love this school district, and have refused to leave the area since my arrival in 2006. Throughout my education career, I completed all of my volunteer hours and student teaching in the ICCSD, and professionally served as a lunch/recess paraeducator at Lincoln Elementary, the art director at Lincoln Elementary BASP, a paraeducator in the modified autism room at Borlaug Elementary, math teacher at Hills Elementary, 8th grade track at NCJH and NWJH, 5th grade teacher at Hills, and currently coach 7th grade volleyball at NWJH.
In my free time, I enjoy running, biking, crafting, being outside, snow and water skiing, and spending time with my husband and our two sibling cats, Hansel and Gretel.
