Musical Notes

Iowa City Girls Choir

  • Iowa City Girls Choir is an auditioned choir. Each fall, girls from 4-6 grade have the opportunity to audition by singing "America the Beautiful" and echo-singing five phrases. Girls in the choir sing two formal concerts per year and go on a spring tour to several elementary schools in the Iowa City area. In addition, the Iowa City Girls Choir is often invited to perform at other events. For several years, the choir has auditioned a smaller, more select group to sing in the Nutcracker Ballet put on by the Nolte Academy of Dance at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City. Girls attending elementary school in the ICCSD, Regina, and Willowwind will receive notice prior to auditions at the beginning of the school year through their music teacher. The directors, Vicki Arnold and Beth Ackerson, can be reached through the Iowa City Girls Choir Facebook page, as well (https://www.facebook.com/ICgirlschoir/).
