Workplace Learning Connection at Kirkwood Community College partners with the District to provide career exploration opportunities for students K–12. We help to answer the proverbial question, “Why do I have to learn that?” by showing the students how what they are learning in the classroom is applied to the real world of work, through our career exploration events, job shadows, and internships.
WLC provides career speakers, career fairs, worksite tours, job shadows, internships, and teacher professional development to help districts meet the State of Iowa Department of Education mandates for Career Development and to help area students become better prepared and better informed as they make education decisions post high school. WLC programming is viewed as providing career, future workforce, and economic development.
