The Lincoln staff is looking forward to opening the 2018–19 school year at the new Hoover Elementary (1355 Barrington Rd, Iowa City). We will call this new school home for the duration of the 2018–19 school year while our building undergoes a historic renovation. This is an exciting time for the Lincoln community as preparations are underway to ensure a smooth transition for students, families, and staff.
The new Hoover Elementary opened this past year with Longfellow Elementary using it as a transitional schoolhouse. Mann Elementary also will be undergoing historic renovations next year and will be located at the new Hoover Elementary as well. We are working hard to ensure that the transition goes smoothly for all. The District intends to keep the staff and student bodies separate and operate as two buildings housed inside one attendance center as much as possible. There are still schedules to be worked out, which will tell us more about where and when the student bodies may come together (i.e., assemblies). The Ice Cream Social will be held on Tuesday, August 21st, 2018, which will also allow families to explore the new building while meeting with their teachers in preparation for the start of school on August 23rd.
