Through a District partnership with Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa, high school students can earn both high school and college credit in state-of-the-art programs called Kirkwood Academies. Twenty programs of study are offered in a wide range of subject areas, from the arts and sciences to manufacturing and robotics; architecture, construction, and engineering; computer programming and software development, and more.

Students can attend the Academies at NO COST, allowing them to explore career fields and jump-start coursework toward a degree or technical certificate. Credits earned are fully transferable to a university.

Academies students enjoy access to high-tech companies and research centers on the University of Iowa campus and have opportunities to join in research projects with University of Iowa faculty.
