District News
Join us as we celebrate each of our newly renovated middle schools for an open house and dedication ceremony!
We are excited to announce that registration for the 2025-26 school year is now open! We encourage you to take this early opportunity to register your students for the next school year.
As a reminder, all families are required to register their students in Infinite Campus each year.
Registration instructions for returning families to the District
As we approach registration for the 2025-26 school year, we want to remind you that any request for school meal modifications due to food allergy or food intolerance, requires a completed Diet Modification Form, signed by an approved medical professional and provided to your school. This documentation is essential to ensure that we can accurately and safely honor meal modification requests for your student.
Please review our Food Allergy Protocols. The protocols list guidelines for parents/guardians and staff on how to provide a safe educational environment for food-allergic students so exposure to food allergens is minimized.
For Liberty High School student Anna Bilskemper, determination has made all the difference.
Bilskemper has Rett Syndrome, a rare disorder that affects motor skills. Due to physical impairments, she communicates primarily through her Eyegaze device, which tracks eye movements to produce language.
As a reminder, Iowa law requires school districts to meet either a minimum of 180 days or 1,080 hours of instruction each year. Our school calendar is built with additional time to account for weather-related schedule changes, but after last week’s cancellation, we are now one hour short of the required instructional time.
To address this, we will cancel the one-hour early release scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2025, to recapture the required hour.
In conversations about education, a phrase you will hear a lot these days is “school choice.”

For those of you considering us as the education home for your family, here is the big thing we want you to know: Simply put, the Iowa City Community School District is your best choice.
