It is the policy of the Iowa City Community School District that students, parents of students, employees, and applicants for employment in the school district have the right to file a formal complaint or informal concerns regarding their experience in the school district. Complaints should be filed under the applicable policy or negotiated agreement. For concerns that fall outside the stated purpose of a separate policy, complaints may be filed under this policy. 

The district has policies and procedures in place to investigate filed complaints. While policy 107 may be used as the basis of a complaint, failure to abide by the timelines in a board policy applicable to the substance of the complaint or the timelines on an applicable negotiated agreement will also deem the complaint untimely under this policy.
