The District shall be notified as soon as it is known that a student has a communicable disease If an employee learns a student(s) has a communicable disease, the employee shall notify a school nurse or the health service specialist. It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent or designee, when the superintendent or designee or the health services manager, upon investigation, has knowledge that a reportable communicable disease is present, to notify the Iowa Department of Public Health (via the Johnson County Department of Public Health). Health data of a student is confidential and it shall not be disclosed to third parties, except in cases of reportable communicable diseases.


It is the responsibility of the superintendent or designee, in conjunction with the health services manager, to develop administrative regulations stating the procedures for dealing with students with a communicable disease.
