District Announces New Chief Financial Officer

District Announces New Chief Financial Officer

IOWA CITY, IA — The Iowa City Community School District School Board has named Pat Moore as the district’s next chief financial officer. Moore will join the district on July 1, 2026, pending school board approval on April 14.

Moore was offered the job after formal interviews with two finalists on March 26th. Interviews were conducted with multiple stakeholders from the district and larger community, including administrators, staff members, community leaders, and school board members.

Superintendent Matt Degner said, “We are thrilled to welcome Pat as our chief financial officer. Her transparent leadership style, combined with 28 years of experience in school district finance, makes her exceptionally well-suited to help lead our district into the future.”

Moore currently serves as CFO, school business official, and board treasurer for the Solon Community School District, a role she has held since 2004. She previously served as Solon’s business manager and board secretary, as well as business manager and board secretary for Lincoln, now North Cedar, Community School District. Earlier in her career, she worked as a controller and as an accounting specialist.

Moore is a licensed Iowa school business official and has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

Moore expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to join Iowa City Schools. "Stepping into the CFO role at Iowa City represents an exciting and meaningful next step in my commitment to serving our local schools. I look forward to partnering closely with Superintendent Degner and the Board to lead the District’s financial strategy with integrity, transparency, and a clear vision for the future. I am truly energized to begin this new chapter and to serve the students, families, and community of Iowa City with the same dedication that has guided my career."

The district worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search.
