Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year!

Thank you for choosing the Iowa City Community School District. We appreciate the trust you place in our schools, and we're committed to providing the best possible experience for every student. I look forward to serving as Interim Superintendent and getting to know our students, families, and staff in the months ahead.

The first day of school is Monday, August 24, and we have been busy preparing to welcome students back. It's been exciting to see our schools come back to life as everyone gets ready for students to return.

If you have not already done so, please take a moment to complete your child's registration before the first day of school. Completing registration now helps ensure a smooth start to the year. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school or email enroll@iowacityschools.org.

To make back-to-school preparations easy, we've gathered everything you need in one place at www.iowacityschools.org/Back2School. There you'll find important information, including:

• School-year calendars
• Enrollment information
• School supply lists
• Bell schedules
• School meal information
• Transportation information

For our elementary families, one of the highlights of the start of the school year is Meet the Teacher Night. We invite you to join us on Thursday, August 20, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at your child's school. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to meet their teacher, visit their classroom, and connect with friends before the first day of school.

In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We can’t wait to welcome students and families back for the new year!
