The Longfellow Safety Patrol is composed of 24 students in 5th and 6th grades. These students wear bright green sashes and can be seen before and after school at important traffic posts (Clark, Oakland, parking lot, and kindergarten bus) helping to maintain the safety of other students. We ask that parents be aware of the school Safety Patrol and respect their crucial role in traffic control during these busy times of day.

Sixth graders are Safety Patrol Captains, although 5th graders are allowed to transition into this role toward the end of the year. During inclement weather, the patrol is excused from duty, but during merely cold days they are rewarded with hot cocoa! At the end of the school year, the Safety Patrol celebrate with a pizza party, awards, and recognition at the all-school assembly.
