As we previously shared with you, the District petitioned the State for permission to extend 100% off-site learning for an additional two week period. This was based on the COVID-19 positivity rates in Johnson County, as well as support from Johnson County Public Health and our School Board. The District was notified yesterday that we have been granted permission from the Iowa Department of Education to extend 100% off-site learning. During the Board Meeting this evening, our Board of Directors discussed the next steps regarding this new information.
Following their discussion, our Board of Directors approved our recommendation and we will extend 100% off-site learning for an additional two week period beginning Monday, November 30, 2020, through Friday, December 11, 2020. Additional information will be shared with families tomorrow, including details on the upcoming transition to the second trimester which begins on December 8, 2020.
One additional note of interest to our school district community, Johnson County Public Health has launched a survey about the COVID-19 vaccine and is seeking feedback to assess attitudes toward receiving the vaccination. The survey is open to all those who live or work in Johnson County. You may take the survey here.
We remain dedicated to navigating this process in a transparent and collaborative manner and we will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. Please stay safe and enjoy the break this week. #ICCSDtogether
