The District has continued to monitor the escalating COVID-19 positivity rates in Johnson County. Based on a fourteen-day positivity rate of 13.3% as of Saturday, November 7, and support from both Johnson County Public Health and our School Board, the District petitioned the State for permission to transition to a 100% off-site learning model for a two week period. At this time, we have not yet received an answer from the Iowa Department of Education on the status of our request.
The Board of Directors will discuss these developments and determine the next steps during their Board Meeting at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. At this time, no decision has been made to transition to 100% off-site learning. The options will be reviewed and discussed during the Board Meeting before an official decision is made. We will provide an update following the meeting that will detail the District's plan regarding a potential transition between learning models.
The health of our school district community remains the primary focus in our decision-making. We will continue to be transparent throughout this process and communicate with you as soon as we have additional information. Please continue to utilize the safety measures that have been proven to work including wearing a mask, staying socially distanced, and practicing proper hand washing/hand sanitizing. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate this process. #ICCSDtogether
