Meal Cost Update for the 2022-2023 School Year

Dear Families and Staff,

We would like to share information with you regarding meal costs for the 2022-23 school year. Unfortunately, the government-funded free meal program for all students that was established during the COVID-19 pandemic came to an end at the conclusion of the 2021-22 school year. This means that there will now be a cost associated with school meals for all families who do not meet the Free & Reduced Meal requirements when school begins on August 23, 2022.

We understand this change may cause concern; however, there are important steps you can take today to make sure your student receives the meals they need this school year.

  1. If your student qualifies and you have not already done so, please be sure to complete the 2022-23 application for Free & Reduced Meals. The 2022-2023 online Free & Reduced Meals application can be found at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict.  If you need assistance completing this form, please contact the Nutrition Services Department at (319) 688-1021.

  2. Families that do not qualify for free or reduced meals can begin depositing money into their student’s meal account by logging into MySchoolBucks.com. Information on meal prices for the 2022-2023 school year can be found at www.iowacityschools.org/MealPrices. If you have questions about adding money to your student’s account or if you need assistance accessing MySchoolBucks, please contact the Nutrition Services Department at (319) 688-1021.

We are dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to school meals and we will provide the necessary assistance to make that possible. We look forward to welcoming students back on August 23rd!

Sincerely,

Alison Demory
