City High Student Senate makes record donation to Crisis Center

In December, the City High School Student Senate delivered 2,337 pounds of food and $2,351 in cash donations, collected over a two-week period, to the Crisis Center of Johnson County. Since each $1 donated is the equivalent of four pounds of food, the Little Hawk Student Senate donated the equivalent of 11,741 pounds of food for area people in need. This is a record donation for the group.

The Crisis Center Food Bank provides needy residents of Johnson County with grocery assistance once a week, with no limit on the number of weekly visits per year. Clients may choose the items that will work best for their family, with some limits based on family size. The Food Bank provides nonperishable items as well as produce, bakery, deli, dairy, and health and hygiene items as available through donations.
