Return-to-Learn Update (8/26/20)

Please see below for several important pieces of information regarding the start of the school year.

Elementary Student Materials
Student materials will be distributed Wednesday, September 2, 2020.  At the elementary level, this includes materials for students who have enrolled in the ICCSD PK-12 Online Learning Program and computers for any PK-6 student who does not currently have a District-issued device. Parents are asked to display a sign and list the student’s name and grade while in the car line.

  • 4:00-6:00 pm: Material pick-up for students in the ICCSD PK-12 Online Learning Program (textbooks, workbooks, computers - if the student does not have a District-issued device)
  • 6:00-7:00 pm: Computer pick-up for on-site students - if the student does not have a District-issued device

Junior High and High School Student Materials
To begin the year, junior high and high school students will need to have their assigned Chromebook. If students do not have a District-issued device, they should come to school at the times below to check out their computers:

    • 5:00-6:00 pm: Computer pick-up for students with last names A-K
    • 6:00-7:00 pm: Computer pick-up for students with last names L-Z

    • 5:00-6:00 pm: Computer pick-up for all students

Additional materials, including textbooks, for students enrolled in the ICCSD PK-12 Online Learning Program, will be issued on the evening of September 16, 2020. All students will have access to their materials through Canvas until that time.

District Computer Support & Repairs
In the event that a student is having trouble with a school-issued computer, or if a device is in need of repair or replacement, please contact the ICCSD Technology Help Desk.  The Help Desk can be reached by phone at (319) 688-1950, by email at helpdesk@iowacityschools.org, or by using the chat option available during business hours in the bottom right corner of the Technology & Innovation Blog (https://innovation.iowacityschools.org). PowerSchool Contact Issues
Many parents have received emails stating that their student has been removed from their PowerSchool account. We want to assure everyone that no students are being removed from PowerSchool. Over the summer, PowerSchool made a major change in how Parent/Guardian contact information is structured. This has required the District to go through the process of manually consolidating many active parent and/or emergency contact accounts. Additionally, the structure for how parents enter contact information into eRegistration has changed. Depending on how the accounts were previously set up, once eRegistration is complete, some parent accounts have become disconnected from their student accounts. We have a process for fixing this when it occurs and are working hard to make sure that all parent contact information that was input during the eRegistration process gets connected to the appropriate student accounts. Thank you for your patience while these issues are resolved.

2020-21 Student Fees
The ICCSD Board of Directors approved student fees for the 2020-21 school year on February 25, 2020.  These fees apply to all students in the District and all instructional models for the school year.  Fees can be paid online or by contacting your assigned attendance center. As attendance at fall athletic competitions has been significantly limited and will not allow for general student admission, the District is currently in the process of finalizing a refund procedure for previously purchased student season passes. This will include an option for families to donate the pass amount to the District.
