Return-to-Learn Update and Information on Picking Up Student Materials (8/31/20)

As we shared over the weekend, our Board of Directors voted unanimously at a special meeting on Saturday, August 29, to begin the 2020-21 school year in a 100% off-site learning model.  Due to this announcement, we have made slight changes to the schedule for families to pick-up student materials.  Please see the updated information below.  In addition, you will find information on computer technical support options and virtual meet and greets with teachers.  If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school. 

Elementary Student Materials
Student materials will be distributed Wednesday, September 2, 2020.  At the elementary level, this now includes materials for ALL elementary students since we have announced we are beginning the year in our 100% off-site learning model. This will also include computers for any PK-6 student who does not currently have a District-issued device. Parents are asked to go to their assigned school and display a sign with the student’s name and grade while in the car line. A second pick-up date for additional materials will be announced at a later time. 

  • 4:00-5:00 pm: Last Names A-I
  • 5:00-6:00 pm: Last Names J-R
  • 6:00-7:00 pm: Last Names S-Z 

Junior High and High School Student Materials
To begin the year, junior high and high school students will need to have their assigned Chromebook. If students do not have a District-issued device, they should come to their assigned school on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at the times below to check out their computers: 

  • Junior High
    • 5:00-6:00 pm: Computer pick-up for students with last names A-K
    • 6:00-7:00 pm: Computer pick-up for students with last names L-Z
  • High School
    • 5:00-6:00 pm: Computer pick-up for all students 

Additional materials, including textbooks, for ALL students, will be issued during the week of September 14 at your school.  Until that time, all students will have access to their materials through Canvas. 

  • Junior High
    • Monday, September 14, 5:00-7:00 pm for grade 8
    • Tuesday, September 15, 5:00-7:00 pm for grade 7
  • High School
    • Monday, September 14, 5:00-7:00 pm for grade12
    • Tuesday, September 15, 5:00-7:00 pm for grade 11
    • Wednesday, September 16, 5:00-7:00 pm for grade 10
    • Thursday, September 17, 5:00-7:00 pm for grade 9 

Junior high and high school students who have textbooks from the spring of 2020 should plan to return these to school this week.  These materials will need to be reissued to students this fall. Students can drop materials off during normal school hours or during the computer pick up times listed above.

Elementary Virtual Meet and Greets
In place of elementary Ice Cream Socials, the District will offer Elementary Virtual Meet & Greets.  This will occur during the afternoon and evening of Thursday, September 3, 2020, at the following times: 

  • Preschool 3:00 pm
  • Kindergarten 4:00 pm
  • 1st Grade 5:00  pm
  • 2nd Grade 5:30  pm
  • 3rd Grade 6:00  pm
  • 4th Grade 6:30  pm
  • 5th Grade 7:00  pm
  • 6th Grade 7:30  pm 

This Wednesday, families will receive an email from their child’s classroom teacher introducing themselves and providing a Zoom link for the Meet and Greet.
