Return-to-Learn Update (9/8/20)

Today, the Iowa City Community School District learned of the court’s decision to deny our request for emergency injunctive relief.  This relief would have allowed for local control regarding school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.  While this is not the determination that we feel is in the best interest of our community, we have prepared for this possibility.  We will review our options and determine the best way to move forward. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 positivity rates in Johnson County and we will seek permission from the State to conduct off-site learning when the conditions dictate.  We can all agree on the need to return to in-person learning as soon as possible; however, we remain dedicated to the health and safety of our students and staff and will continue to use this as the guide in our decision-making.  Our Board of Directors will discuss these developments and determine the next steps during their upcoming Board Meetings.  We will provide updates to families as soon as additional information becomes available.  #ICCSDtogether
