2021-22 School Year Health and Safety Guidance

Our District is committed to the health and safety of our students and staff.  We continue to evaluate the data and consult with public health experts regarding the appropriate COVID-19 preventative strategies that can be implemented within our buildings.  We encourage you to review our updated Iowa City Community School District Health and Safety Guidelines for the 2021-22 School Year.  Additional information can be found on our District’s 2021-22 Return to Learn website

To help slow the spread of COVID-19, the Iowa City Community School District strongly encourages universal indoor mask use for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to our schools, regardless of vaccination status.  This is based on guidance from the CDC.  In addition, the President’s Executive Order on domestic transportation requires students and staff to wear a face-covering while on a school bus or while utilizing other District-provided transportation.

The District strongly encourages eligible individuals to get the COVID-19 vaccine. For individuals 12 years of age and older who have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine, this vaccine locator may be used to find a provider near you.

The District’s health and safety protocols will be adjusted throughout the year based on the current COVID-19 transmission rate in Johnson County. The current guidance is based on a “High” transmission rate, as that is the current status for Johnson County on the CDC’s COVID-19 Data Tracker

We appreciate the feedback that we have received from students, parents, and staff throughout our preparation for the upcoming school year.  We are in this together and we look forward to safely welcoming our students and staff back into our buildings.  #ICCSDtogether
